Hoverfly and Chicory
Hoverfly, Sphaerophoria scripta, male, eating pollen from a chicory, Cichorium intybus. Jubilee Country Park, 1 July 2011.
Taken with an EOS 60D and 100mm macro lens.
My knee-jerk first reaction was, 'computer-generated fantasy'. My second, more reasoned, response was, "What a brilliant photographer!" Thank you, as always, for sharing!
It's real enough, and I'm glad you like it. I keep taking photos of hoverflies on flowers, I think they're very photogenic, and this is the best so far. The chicory is also good-looking.
That is at second glance spectacular even for an EOS and its macro lens.
